Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei wants President William Ruto should dismiss retired President Uhuru Kenyatta as his peace envoy for the Great Lakes Region and the Horn of Africa.
Cherargei wants the position offered to Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
At the same time the Senator hailed Musyoka for attending Mashujaa Day celebrations that were presided over by the Head of State.
Other top opposition figures gave the event a wide berth.
Cherargei claims Uhuru should be saved from the burden of the diplomatic job since he is allegedly busy with Azimio-OKA activities.
“H.E Musyoka by attending Mashujaa day yesterday pledged loyalty to H.E Ruto’s govt & patriotic;

“He should be appointed to be special envoy on peace to replace Uhuru who is busy with Azimio-OKA activities; Kalonzo in future shall not miscalculate himself again politically,” he tweeted.

During his inauguration President Ruto announced that Uhuru had agreed to continue serving as a peace ambassador for the Great Lakes Region and the Horn of Africa.
Recently Uhuru withdrew from African Union (AU) peace talks on the Ethiopian-Tigray conflict.
Uhuru said he was incapable of attending the talks set to take place in South Africa because there was conflicts in his schedule.
“My attention has been drawn to a communique Ref: CCP/Y695.10.22 dated October 1, 2022, regarding the Ethiopian Peace Process scheduled for October 8, 2022, in South Africa.
“Regrettably, I wish to notify your good office that I will not be able to attend owing to conflicts in my schedule,” he said.
