The Social Health Authority (SHA) Board has announced the appointment of CPA Pariken Ole Sankei as the new Director of Internal Audit.
In a statement on October 29, SHA stated that his appointment followed a competitive, transparent recruitment process that commenced on July 29, 2025.
“The Social Health Authority (SHA) Board is pleased to announce the appointment of CPA Pariken Ole Sankei as the new Director of Internal Audit. This key appointment follows a competitive and transparent recruitment process that began on July 29, 2025,” read part of the statement.
CPA Ole Sankei is a seasoned internal audit professional with over 20 years of experience spanning both the public and private sectors.
SHA Appoints Pariken Ole Sankei as Director of Internal Audit
He has previously served in key leadership positions, including Head of Internal Audit at the defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), the Public Service Commission (PSC), and the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).
Prior to his appointment, he served as the Acting Director of Internal Audit at SHA, a position he is now formally transitioning from.
Mr. Ole Sankei holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in international business administration.
He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Public Secretary (CPS), and is a member of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).
His appointment is expected to strengthen the Authority’s governance and accountability framework as SHA continues to advance its mandate of providing financial protection and strategic purchasing of healthcare services for all Kenyans.
The Board expressed its gratitude to the SHA staff for their continued dedication and support during the transition period.

His Appointment to NHIF
His appointment to the defunct NHIF was made alongside that of former Chief Executive Officer Elijah Wachira.
Other key appointments at the time included Catherine Mungania, named Corporation Secretary and Director of Legal Services; Robert Ingasira, appointed Director of Financial Services; and Martin Ayoo, who took up the role of Director of Information and Communication Technology.

Former CS Nakhumicha Attends High-Level Meeting on NHIF Transition
On his transition, former Health CS Susan Nakhumicha convened a high-level meeting to streamline the operations at NHIF.
During the meeting, the CS stressed the need to formulate a strategic roadmap for a seamless transition that addresses staff matters, patient data, and outstanding debts.
The team assumed office at a time when the Fund was under investigation over an alleged conspiracy involving some private health providers to defraud contributors.
The probe was prompted by an NTV investigative exposé aired on June 18, titled “We Steal, God Heals,” which uncovered widespread medical fraud in several hospitals across Nairobi and Meru counties.
The exposé revealed how individuals posing as healthcare providers went around villages, preying on unsuspecting residents by selling false promises of medical treatment and recovery.
