As the number of reported femicide cases in the country continues to rise, the National Police Service has launched investigations into a shocking discovery near the Lang’ata cemetery in Nairobi.
A Police report seen by The Kenya Times revealed that a severely mutilated body was discovered by a male casual worker at the cemetery on the morning of Thursday, October 31.
The report dated October 31 highlighted that the remains, consisting primarily of bones, were found at the scene early, apparently left there by unknown individuals.
According to the police report, the bones which had been wrapped in a polythene bag appeared to have been boiled, with the flesh meticulously removed.
“Police officers from Lang’ata proceeded to the scene and established that it was human bones, whose flesh had been removed completely. The bones were completely cooked including the skull,” reads part of the report.
Preliminary investigations by Police indicated that the bones could have been brought from a different place and dumped within the cemetery as concealment of the primary crime scene.

Police say that the motive behind this disturbing act remains unclear, and no arrests have been made so far.
Authorities in Lang’ata are working to identify the victim, establish the motive and those behind the same as the investigation continues.

The scene was processed and documented by crime scene detectives.
The incident left many locals shocked as the police moved the parts to the Nairobi City mortuary for preservation and identification.
Meanwhile, detectives at Kasarani police station have launched a manhunt for a suspect who stabbed his girlfriend to death before fleeing the scene.
The body of the young woman was discovered in a three-bedroom house at Kahawa West with several stab wounds inflicted by the assailant.
Investigators who responded to the crime scene say they found the body of Lilian Achieng lying in a pool of blood on the floor of the house.
Police identified the suspect in the murder as George Mutegi, who is the owner of the house where the killing had happened.
After committing the murder, the suspect is said to have switched off his mobile phone and went into hiding.
Police recovered a kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon that was used by the killer.
The deceased’s body was taken to the Kenyatta Memorial Funeral Home as investigations into the murder continue.
Femicide cases
The two incidents come in the wake of fears that women are being targeted for murder.
At least 97 people have been killed separately in the past three months, according to Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Eliud Lagat who said the incidents happened in September, October and November of 2024.
President William Ruto, in response to the worrying statistics ordered the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to ensure that all cases that have been reported are thoroughly probed and perpetrators brought to book.
“I know that of recent we have seen incidences of our girls, our mothers, our women who have been murdered in cold blood. Let me say that the DCI and all investigative agencies in Kenya must stand up to these criminals and we must deal decisively and firmly,” said Ruto.
He further urged Kenyans to be careful with criminals who lure girls and women into situations that comprise their security and be on the lookout.
