Royal Media Services Chairman Samuel Kamau Macharia has revealed details of his meeting with four Independent Electoral Boundaries and Commission (IEBC) commissioners named Cherera 4 in 2022 ahead of the general elections.
Macharia, while speaking during the burial ceremony of Col (Rtd) James Nguyo Gitahi on Saturday, March 15, in Machakos, revealed that they had agreed with Gitahi that whoever would die first would reveal this information to the country.

“We went to Naivasha to plan for the election of Raila Odinga as a candidate. And in Naivasha, I tried to explain that the register that is going to be used has fake voters. But Raila was so impatient. He stopped me from explaining,” he said.
“But these four commissioners that resigned or were fired, they came to my house, and I showed them how the register is not true.”

The RMS Chairman went on to mention that during the 2022 elections, he tried to convince Raila that the voter register being used was not credible.
“He didn’t think so. And because of his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta, he thought it was a free flow,” Macharia alleged.
“Just for jokes, the 2022 election comes, and it’s Ruto against Raila. They were saying we have deep state, and Ruto would tell them, ‘Which deep state do you have?’”
RMS Chair Raises Concern Over Voter Register
SK said he is not worried about being kidnapped or hijacked for revealing intricate details because he is 82 years old.
“It doesn’t matter. Gitahi has gone, and he was younger than me,” he said.
“The only thing that can help us is to make sure that a new voter register is created before the next election, in the next two and a half years or so, so that all Kenyans can cast votes. And each vote will count, even if he loses, at least he would leave behind a country that counts votes.”

Macharia called on President William Ruto to ensure that as the country heads toward the 2027 elections, there should be a new voter register.
“Fellow Kenyans, this is what I would ask President Ruto to do for us: to have a new voter register and ensure that in the next election, whoever gets elected will be chosen by Kenyans through their votes,” he added.
