The Embassy of Spain in Kenya has announced new changes to its visa application process, effective November 3, 2025.
In a statement on October 31, the embassy stated that BLS International will, in addition to handling tourist visa applications, begin processing most Spanish National Visas, including study visas.
“As of November 3rd, in addition to tourist visas, BLS will handle applications for most of the Spanish National Visas, including Study Visas,” read part of the announcement.
Applicants are advised to visit the BLS Spain Visa Application Center or the official BLS website for more details on the updated procedures and requirements.
Services You Can Apply Via BLS
In addition to tourist visas, BLS handles a wider range of visa applications.
Under short-term visas (for stays of up to 90 days), the categories include tourist, business and conference, transit, student and research, medical, and sports event visas.
For national visas, BLS will process applications for the national residence and teleworking visa (commonly known as the Digital Nomad visa), national study visa, national internship visa, family reunification visa, and the residence and employment work visa.

How to Apply for a BLS Spain Visa
Applicants seeking to travel to Spain through BLS International must first determine the appropriate visa category based on their purpose of travel, such as tourism, business, or study.
The application process generally follows these steps:
- Complete the visa application form — for short stays, this will be the Schengen visa application form. A Schengen visa permits short-term stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period across all Schengen countries. Spain is among the 29 countries.
- Book an appointment online through the BLS Spain website.
- Prepare and organize the required documents according to your chosen visa category.
- Attend your appointment in person. Bring along your documents and passport to submit your application.
Once submitted, your application is sent to the Spanish Embassy or Consulate for review.
Processing can take several days to a few weeks, so it’s recommended to apply in advance of your intended travel date.
While BLS International handles the administrative side of the application process, it has no influence or authority over the approval or rejection of visa applications.
All final decisions will be made by the Spanish consular authorities.
