National assembly speaker Moses Wetangula has announced the death of Dr. Mlozi Sedoyeka, a member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
In a statement on June 13, Wetangula said the Kenyan Parliament is deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Dr. Sedoyeka from Tanzania.
Wetangula stated that Dr.Mlozi was dedicated to serving and promoting unity within the East Africa Community (EAC).
“Serving her first term, Dr. Mlozi was a highly respected and dedicated member, known for her unwavering commitment to serving East Africa. Her passion for promoting unity and cooperation among member states was evident in all her work and advocacy,” read part of the statement.
EALA Mourns Mlozi
The Speaker revealed that Mlozi was a champion for regional issues, including Economic, Development, Trade, and Regional Integration.
Additionally, Wetangula praised her relentless dedication to advancing the goals of the EAC adding that it will be solely missed.

“Dr. Mlozi’s passing is a heartbreaking loss for EALA and the entire EAC. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and colleagues during this very difficult time,” Wetangula said.
On his part, the Speaker of the EALA Joseph Ntakirutimana said Mlozi unexpectedly passed on in the wee hours of Thursday the 13th of June 2024, at the Mount Meru Hospital in Arusha, Tanzania.
He announced Mlozi’s death describing her as a dedicated member of the Assembly.
Ntakirutimana stated that the late was serving her first term as a member of the EALA.
Dr.Mlozi ‘s Background
“Dr. Mlozi’s passing is a great loss to the East African Legislative Assembly and the entire East African Community. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time,” Ntakirutimana said.
Mlozi was the wife to Permanent Secretary Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism Prof Eliamani Sedoyeka in Tanzania.
Prior to being elected to EALA, she was a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the National College of Tourism.
In addition, she served as a senior lecturer and head department of tourism and hospitality at the Open University of Tanzania (OUT) from 2009 to 2017.

Dr. Mlozi holds a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications Engineering and Master of Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Dar es Salaam.
She holds a doctorate degree in Philosophy Tourism Marketing and Management from Huazhong University of Science and Technology,
Likewise, she holds a doctorate degree in Entrepreneurship and Management from Hanken School of Economics in Finland.
