Satellite internet provider Starlink has warned its customers in Kenya of a potential service cut-off and set a deadline for mandatory in-person ID verification.
Screenshots shared by users on social media show emails from Starlink titled along the lines of “Action Required: Verify Your Identity in Kenya,” urging customers to complete identity verification by a specified deadline.
The notice explains that, as required by local authorities, all Starlink customers in Kenya must complete identity verification to continue receiving service.
Customers who fail to comply with the stated deadline risk having their accounts interrupted or deactivated.
“Act by April 30: Complete Identity Verification. As required by local authorities in Kenya, all Starlink customers must complete identity verification in person at an authorised retailer to continue receiving service. Please complete this verification by April 30, 2026,” read an email received by a customer.
Starlink Warns of Service Cut-Off
The requirement follows directives from the communications authority to ensure compliance with identity verification regulations.
Starlink has instructed users to first update their account information online before visiting a certified retailer for in-person verification.
Failure to complete the verification by the deadline may result in service interruption.
“If verification is not completed by this date, your service may be interrupted,” the service providers warned.
Additionally, the email advised the subscribers on how to verify their identities in their accounts.
To verify their identity, customers must first navigate to their Starlink account and provide all required information.

After updating their account, subscribers must visit an authorised Starlink retailer in Kenya for in-person verification.
“Navigate to your Starlink account and provide all the information. Visit an authorised Starlink retailer in Kenya,” the email advised.
New sign-ups blocked without ID
Starlink has tightened its registration process for new customers in Kenya, making in-person and online identity verification mandatory.
New subscribers must provide identifying information, including a valid photo ID, to access the services.

Customers placing new orders are prompted to upload the necessary documents through their Starlink account portal to complete the registration process.
The company has made it clear that service will be deactivated if users fail to submit the required identification.
This policy ensures that all subscribers are properly verified in compliance with local regulatory requirements.
The service providers insisted that the name entered in the “Contact Information” section of the account must exactly match the details on the ID provided. Any mismatch could result in registration delays or service interruption.
