Divisions are emerging in the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) after Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale openly attacked Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking on Monday, November 13, Khalwale accused Gachagua of fighting senior politicians from the Western region.

Further, Khalwale said Gachagua is using upcoming politicians from different parts of the country to secure his 2032 presidential interest.

“Because he is a DP, he is using politicians like Cleophas Malala in Western and Hassan Omar in Coast to fight senior politicians in those areas so that they cannot block his 2032 presidential bid,” said Khalwale.

Additionally, the Senator stated that a political leader from the Mulembe community will be the one to succeed President William Ruto and not Gachagua.

“When you former President Uhuru Kenyatta retire and Ruto took over it meant that when Ruto leaves he will be succeeded by a politician from Luhya community,” stated Khalwale.

Besides, Khalwale emphasized that the Luhya community will not tolerate cheap politics from any politician whether at the national or county level.

Furthermore, Senator Khalwale said he is more educated and has more political experience than the DP Gachagua.

“I have four times political experience than DP Ruto, he must respect our community. We are a community of seven million people,” added the vocal Senator.

In addition, the bullfighter said he will fight for the interest of the Luhya community just like how Gachagua has been traveling around the world to fight for the rights of the coffee farmers from his Mt.Kenya region.

“Just like the DP who has decided to fight for his coffee fighters, I will equally fight for the sugarcane farmers whether I am a deputy president or not,” explained Khalwale.

More cracks in UDA as Kuria Defends DP

This comes a few days after Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria praised Gachagua despite previously being a huge critic of the DP.

In a media interview on Wednesday, November 8, CS Kuria said DP Gachagua is the principal assistant to President Ruto.

Further, the CS admitted that Gachagua is their boss and chairs the Cabinet committees.

“Credit to DP Gachagua, he has done the Cabinet Committees so well. Our Cabinet is so efficient because it is sort of some processing or forum for Cabinet,” he said.

Kuria explained that the CS’s have a lot of time and freedom to discuss issues in the Committees chaired by the DP.

Besides, Kuria said he has a good relationship with DP Gachagua and refused to comment on the reason why he posted Gachagua’s photo after being moved from the Trade Ministry.

“We get along with the DP, he is the deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and my boss,” he stated.

Ruto Dismisses Gachagua Remarks

In a previous instance, Ruto dismissed the claims of the Kenya Kwanza government awarding development and positions based on shares.

Speaking in Siaya County, on Friday October 6, the president said his government belongs to all the citizens of Kenya regardless of their political affiliations.

“Let nobody tell you that you are not in government, this government belongs to the people of Kenya. You pay taxes and you are also Kenyans, so this government is yours,” he said.

Furthermore, he promised that no region will be left behind in development because of its political alignment.

“It is primitive and backward for anybody to imagine that any region of Kenya cannot get development on account of how they voted.

That is neither right nor correct and I want to ensure the people of Kenya that we will move together,” said Ruto.

Also, the president promised to visit the region in future to launch more development projects.
