A poster has been making rounds online indicating that Kenyans in the United States and Canada were planning to protest during an event set to be led by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on November 25.
First shared on November 12, the post had already reached more than 200,000 users on X by November 13, morning eliciting different reactions from Kenyans.
At the same time, the image was shared with a caption indicating that Kenyans in America had decided to speak up about their concerns over the government and its leadership.
“Kenyans in the United States of America have decided they will no longer call on their friends to make noise, but they will be there themselves.
“The clouds are gathering, and we will be there no matter what,” the caption read in part.

A fact-check done by The Kenya Times determined that the poster making rounds online was not shared from an authoritative or a credible source.
Additionally, a reverse image search indicated that the State Department for Diaspora Affairs had not issued any notice of a meeting between the DP and Kenyans in America in November.
Further, the invite detailed that Gachagua would be the chief guest of the event set to take place at “Hilton Hotel 500 powder Springs Street Marietta Ga 30064 in the US.”

Notably, the last shared invite to the diaspora by the ministry was on October 2023, when the DP was set to meet up with Kenyans in Belgium on October 25.
The meeting happened and was documented by both the DP and Kenya’s Ambassador to Belgium Bitange Ndemo.
Kenyan Embassy Remarks Over the Post
Notably, both the deputy president and Kenya’s embassy in Washington DC have not issued any official statement on the matter.
There is no information on any such meeting, protests, or celebrations on either of their official platforms.
Likewise, the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu, who would naturally share any such information or issue caution on any planned strike, did not make any such announcement.
As such, the evidence gathered indicates that the image was manipulated and falsified.
