Tahmeed Coach has taken action after videos surfaced showing passengers traveling from Mombasa to Nairobi being attacked by bedbugs on one of its buses.
In a statement issued on August 18, 2026, the company said it had grounded bus KCR 615 after identifying a bedbug infestation and seeing videos of the incident circulate online.
Tahmeed said the company identified the infestation on July 17, 2026, and moved all passengers to another bus to ensure their safety and comfort.
“We acknowledge the videos circulating online regarding bus KCR 615. Here is what we did immediately: On 17th July 2026, we identified a bedbug infestation on KCR 615. We acted at once,” the company said in a statement.
Bus Grounded, Seats Removed as Tahmeed Details Measures Taken
Tahmeed said all passengers were moved to another bus after the bedbug infestation was identified, citing their safety and comfort.
The company then grounded bus KCR 615 and removed all its seats as part of the cleaning process.
It also said the company sprayed and fumigated the entire bus to eliminate the bedbugs.
The management said KCR 615 was cleared to resume service only after confirming that it was pest-free.
Hygiene Measures Tightened to Prevent Fresh Bedbug Infestations
The Tahmeed management said it has increased fumigation intervals across its buses as part of measures to prevent another bedbug infestation.
The company has also stopped carrying used bedding on all routes, citing the need to prevent re-infestation.

Tahmeed also plans to upgrade seat-cover materials to options less likely to harbor bedbugs.
Additionally, the company urged passengers to continue reporting issues, saying customer feedback would help improve its service standards.
“We value your feedback. Keep telling us when you see something that needs fixing. Your voice drives our standards,” the management noted.
Tahmeed said it remains committed to providing clean, safe and reliable transport services on its routes.
