Terryanne Chebet has resigned from CNBC Africa after serving as a strategic partnerships consultant, senior correspondent and business development lead from January 2023.
Speaking to The Kenya Times, Chebet confirmed her resignation from the international media company.
“I resigned from the station to start my own business show. It has been an amazing experience working with CNBC,” Chebet said.Â
Terryanne a celebrated business journalist, said she is working on a new venture to launch her digital news project named “After Hours with Terryanne”.Â
The project, she noted, will hinge on her experience as a business journalist to revolutionize how news is produced and consumed across Africa.Â
“I’ve embarked on an exciting new venture to launch my digital news project, After Hours with Terryanne Chebet, which I believe has the potential to revolutionize how business news is produced and consumed across Africa.
As a business journalist with many years of experience, I see the immense opportunities in the digital space to reshape the way news is delivered,” Chebet told The Kenya Times.Â
“We have a responsibility to bring the news to where the people are- on their digital devices, in their own time. This is a space where business news can thrive, evolve, and truly connect with a broader, more engaged audience.”
In a video on her Instagram account, Chebet announced that she will start Kenya’s first online business show, which is going to premiere on X and will be live on X spaces every week.

“I have just set up Kenya’s first online business show which is live on X spaces every week and its a culmination of many special things.
“Every week we will be delving into conversations that matter, and I would like to interview you to come and be part of the conversation,” Terryanne announced.
Terryanne has had a stellar career that has seen her rise through different ranks. She began her journalism career at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) where she worked as a television and radio news anchor from December 2004 to February 2007.

She proceeded to work at CNBC Africa as a Senior News Correspondent from March 2007 to August 2010.

Later on, Terryanne joined Citizen TV, where she worked as an Associate Editor and Business News Anchor from November 2010 to October 2011.
She then joined CGTN Africa as a Business News Anchor. She hosted a show, ‘Bizz Africa’, CCTV’s flagship business program filmed in Nairobi, with live market crossings to Johannesburg, Washington, and London. Terryanne worked at the company from November 2011 to February 2013.
Chebet’s career profile
She later joined K24 TV as a News Anchor and Associate Business Editor, working there from December 2012 to November 2013.
She rejoined Citizen TV as a Senior Anchor and Associate Business News Editor in January 2014 and worked at the station until 2016.
After leaving Citizen TV, Chebet went on to establish a public relations and digital marketing agency, Scarlet Digital. She was the Public Relations Lead from November 2016 to February 2018.

Following her stint at Scarlet Digital, Terryanne served as a General Manager at Fanaka Television and later in the same position at Metropol TV Kenya.
In January 2021, Terryanne joined Lantern Comitas as a Senior Strategic Communications Consultant and worked there until December 2022.
She later rejoined CNBC Africa as a Strategic Partnerships Consultant in January 2023, where she worked until the time of her resignation.
Chebet’s Education Background
TC, as she is fondly known by her peers, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Public Relations from the United States International University (USIU) – Africa.
She also holds a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism and International Affairs from the School of Information, Communication, and Diplomacy.
Additionally, she has a Certificate in Climate Adaptation in Africa from the University of Cape Town.
