Missing University of Nairobi (UoN) student president Madzao Rocha has surfaced after days of being reported missing.
Madzao in a video recording see by The Kenya Times, sent a message to his friends and other concerned citizens saying that he is safe and sound.
He is reported to have been abducted by unknown individuals who later dumped him in Mombasa. Madzao managed to make his way to a bus station and took a matatu to Kwale where he is with family.
Moreover, the student leader has also appreciated the individuals who took time and put in effort to know his whereabouts.
“Hello and how are you. Madzao Rocha here. I am safe and thank you to everyone who made an effort to know my whereabouts. I am safe and God bless you. Thank you,” he said in the video.

KEPSO Rubbishes Abductions Allegations on Madzao Rocha
Earlier, the Presidents of the Kenya Private Universities Students Organization Titus Mutua alleged that the abduction reports were false.
In a notice to the public, he said that Madzao faked the abduction to cause panic and chaos in the country and for clout chasing.
“I hope this letter finds you well. As a concerned citizen, I feel compelled to address the recent events surrounding the recent self- imposed abduction of Rocha Madzao, the current president of University of Nairobi students Organization.
“Mr Rocha, while I understand the frustration and urgency that may have led you to take such drastic measures, probably to gain public clout, I believe it is essential to reconsider your approach,” he said in a statement.
Further, he asked the UoN president to surface adding that he should be advocating for a calm state in the student’s community.

UoN Students Protests After Abduction Reports
The University of Nairobi students held demonstrations on Saturday, August 24, in protest over the alleged abduction of their student leader.
Consequently, they blocked Uhuru Highway, leading to the deployment of anti-riot police. Clashes ensued as the police attempted to clear the road, causing significant traffic disruptions.
Reports indicated that unidentified men attempted to abduct the president earlier on Friday near Hall 9 of the university, but students intervened. Madzao later left for home at around 8:00 PM.
News of Madzao missing were first shared by one of his friends identified as Mbaga who stated that Madzao was last seen near Imenti House while in a matatu on his way home at 9:00 PM on Friday, August 23, 2024.
