XPrize foundation has announced a Ksh15.4 billion ($101 million) award for anyone who will reverse human age and come up with an anti-aging solution.
Making the announcement on November 30, XPrize Foundation Executive Chairman Peter Diamandis stated that the winning idea could come from anyone in any location.
XPrize Foundation is an institution that creates incentives for technological and health innovation.
“We are giving away $101 million to a team that can reverse human age. This treatment is meant to address our aging population between 65 to 80 years,” he Diamandis stated.
Giving reason for the move, he noted that many people dropped out of society and out of work as they got older for failing to have cognitive clarity.
Additionally, he stated that older people did not have the strength to be mobile and many were battling disease.
“As people get older, they drop out of society; they drop out of work, for a number of reasons: They don’t have the cognitive clarity to engage, don’t have the strength to be mobile. They’re battling disease,” he stated.

Qualifications For Participation in XPrize Award
XPrize detailed that interested participants should develop a therapeutic treatment that they can deliver in one year or less.
Further, the foundation stated that the treatment must be able to restore functions in muscle immune and recognition systems by at least 10 years.
Also, Diamandis noted that interested individuals could compete as a group, as individuals, enthusiasts, startups or students.
The judges will assess participants’ muscle, immune, and cognitive function before and after the therapeutic treatment.
“A winning idea can come from anyone, anywhere. You can compete as a group, individual, enthusiast, startup or as a student. Any and all problem solvers are welcome.
“The competition is seven years meaning it culminates in 2030. We hope to have a proven way to treat aging by then.

At the same time, he noted that the treatment was not just for the rich but for real people.
“To be clear, we are looking for real solutions for real people, not the rich and famous. We want to democratize this technology at scale,” added the statement.
