Lady Justice Grace Nzioka has said that she has never feared for her life because of the rulings she makes on high-profile cases even when it involves murder.
Speaking during to KTN News on Thursday, March 14, Nzioka, who handed Joseph Irungu alias Jowie a death sentence, on March 13, said that her conscious is always clear.
Further, she explained that she has never issued a judgment to inflict intentional harm but has always relied on the guidance of the law.
“Even when a case has affected me, when I say this and this happened because of a case, it cannot influence the ruling that will be made.
“When you do your job well and you believe that you made the right judgement, not just hurting someone else because you can, then there is no need to worry. I walk around just like any other Kenyan,” she said.

Additionally, she noted that her protection also came from God, and she had a strong faith. According to her, there is no need to lock herself indoors because of fear.
“Our protection does not also just come from men. You must also have faith. There is no day I have locked myself in the house because I am scared after issuing a ruling. Never,” added Judge Nzioka.
Justice Nzioka on Why She Loves Her Job
At the same time, Nzioka said that she loved her job explaining that it allowed her to serve the people using the knowledge she had acquired over the years, and she feels great doing it.
“If tomorrow, you ask me where I want to work, I will say right where I am at (Judiciary). It is something I feel great about after executing.
“If you are happy about your job and it gives you satisfaction, and you have used your knowledge to serve the people, then that is great. If you have passion, you will wake up in the morning,” she said.
In January 2013, Justice Nzioka was carjacked by armed robbers as she, accompanied by her husband, drove into their Karen home.
The robbers, who had guns, ransacked her home and made away with valuables. However, the couple was released unharmed.

Her Explanation on the Difference Between Death and Life Sentence
On the difference between a life and death sentence, she explained that a life sentence allowed a person to live but restricted them to living within the prison walls until they died.
However, a death sentence meant that the life of the convict could be taken away if the law permitted it.
“The two are very different. In a life sentence, you continue living but within the confines of a jail. The only difference with that person and us is that we are outside and they in jail and cannot see their family. They wait for a day when they will die a natural death.
“In the death sentence, the person is unsure of their life because it can be taken away when the law provides,” she explained.
