The body of a 27-year-old woman, Mercy Cherop Nyamasia, has been recovered after she went missing two weeks ago.
In a statement, the police stated that Mercy Cherop died after she was involved in an accident along Outering road on September 22.
“Postmortem results confirms that she died from severe internal injuries sustained from an accident along outering road on 22nd September 2023,” said the police report.
According to her family, the woman who hailed from Lomaiwe-Mochongoi in Baringo South went missing on September 21.
Moreover, her father Kipkoech, filed a missing person report at the Villa Embakasi police station in Nairobi.

According to her father, he learnt about her daughter’s disappearance on October 1, after they last spoke on September 21.
Nyamasia, according to her father, owned a beauty shop in the Pipeline area and may have sustained the injuries on her way to the house on that fateful day.

On the eve of October 1, Nyamasia is said to have closed her beauty shop but never got home.
“All her telephones went dead after failing to turn up at home. We have recorded her missing report at Villa Police Station in Pipeline,” said a worried Kipkoech.
At the same time, Kipkoech said her daughter was living alone in Pipeline while the rest of the family lived elsewhere within the city.

Moreover, the worried family made calls to all her relatives, including her boyfriend, over her disappearance.
“Nyamasia lives alone, and her boyfriend lives in his house in a different part of the city. We contacted him, but he said he had no idea that she had gone missing,” said her father.
This prompted the family to report a missing person at Villa Police station.
At the moment, the family, which is yet to come to terms with the demise of their kin, is preparing for her sendoff.
“Those are the sad news we have received from the police today. We have nothing more to say. We are mourning her death,” said Kipkoech.
