Singapore Airlines has once again apologized to all passengers who experienced a traumatic incident on board flight SQ321 on May 20, 2024.
The airline went further and committed to offer full support and assistance to those affected during this difficult time.
Singapore Airlines confirmed that compensation offers were sent to passengers on June 10, 2024.
“Singapore Airlines can confirm that we have sent out the offers of compensation to the passengers on 10 June 2024,” Singapore post read.
Passengers who sustained minor injuries will receive compensation of $10,000 (Ksh.1.2 million).
For those with more serious injuries, the airline has invited them to discuss individualized compensation offers when they feel ready.
Additionally, passengers medically assessed with serious injuries requiring long-term care have been offered an advance payment of Ksh.3.2million to address immediate needs, which will be part of their final compensation.

“For those who sustained more serious injuries from the incident, we have invited them to discuss a compensation offer to meet each of their specific circumstances when they feel well and ready to do so,” the post further read.
Beyond these measures, Singapore Airlines will provide a full refund of airfare to all passengers on flight SQ321, including those who were uninjured.

Passengers will also receive delay compensation in accordance with European Union and United Kingdom regulations.
To assist passengers immediately after the incident, Singapore Airlines provided S$1,000 each for expenses upon their departure from Bangkok.
The airline has also been covering medical expenses for the injured and has arranged for family members to travel to Bangkok when requested.

Severe Turbulence
This compensation came after passengers on the Singapore Airlines on May 21 experienced severe turbulence.

More than 30 people were injured while a 73-year-old British man, Geoff Kitchen, died from a suspected heart attack.
According to reports, the aircraft flew for about 11 hours from takeoff in London, when it sharply dropped from an altitude of around 37000 feet within just five minutes as it finished traversing the Andaman Sea and neared Thailand.
The airline had confirmed that there was a total of 211 passengers and 18 crew members on board.
