Three men have died in the Makongeni area of Kiambu County after an irate mob beat them to death before setting them ablaze.
The three men were operating on a bike with missing number plates, which they used to flee the crime scene towards Thika town after snatching a handbag from a woman in the Polysack area. The victim’s call of distress caught the attention of Boda Riders and their friends at the Boda Boda shade.
Tired of the criminals operating on bikes and tainting the good name of honest Boda riders, the lot took off in hot pursuit, determined to catch the suspects on the run.

The fleeing trio encountered a matatu from the opposite direction, swerved, and lost control to avoid a head-on collision. The Boda riders landed mercilessly on them with blows and kicks while lamenting how such criminals continue to taint their image.
The area police responded to the crime scene, but as fate had it, they were a minute too late. They, however, managed to recover the mobile phone and the victim’s personal belongings. Also recovered were three knives they believed were used during their robbery escapades.
The bodies were taken to the General Kago Hospital Morgue to await identification by their kin.
