Chaos erupted at Kitalakapel Technical Training Institute in West Pokot after suspected armed men stormed the school forcing police officers to take action.
In a video seen by The Kenya Times, locals and students gathered at the schools alarmed forcing the administration to try and calm them down.
After a while, a police van with officers’ is seen driving into the school to disperse the crowd and restore order.
According to witnesses, six men wearing masks stormed the school, posing as students and started threatening other students.
“We were picking up our examination papers when the goons joined us. They pretended to be students and demanded to see their exam papers,” Victor Kisang, a student at the institute said.
Details of the Ordeal Leading to Police Presence
According to the witnesses, some of the students were in the middle of a practical session when they heard screams from outside.
Additionally, the students spotted six people armed with knives, five of them were men and a woman.
While other students hid in various offices in the school, others cornered one of the men and locked him in an office.

He was presented to the police when they arrived. The suspects were taken to Kapenguria police station for interrogation.
“We are working closely with the authorities to ensure the safety and security of everyone at the institute,
“Our primary concern is the well-being of our students and staff,” said Kevin Wekalamoyo, one of the trainers at the institute.

Anti Government Protest in Kenya
The incident occurred while Kenyans across the country held antigovernment protests.
Following the riot and chaos across the country, Nyaribari Masaba Member of Parliament Daniel Manduku called on President William Ruto to dissolve Parliament and reconstitute the Cabinet.
“I send my condolences to the families and relatives of the innocent children who lost their lives during the otherwise peaceful protests across the country,
“The recent invasion and defilement of Parliament signify a failure of the institution to maintain order, respect, and public trust,” Manduku stated.
Ruto had earlier on Wednesday, June 26, declined to sign the contentious Finance Bill 2024, sending it back to parliament with proposal that it is done away with completely.
