A church, in partnership with Raha Premium and JCM TV, on July 23, rescued a man who had endured homelessness in Nyeri for 12 years.
Mr Kavatha, who had been sleeping outside due to lack of shelter, is now living in a fully paid house, thanks to the Compassionate Gospel initiative led by the church.
JCM church also said it plans to construct a permanent home for him.
“12 years of Mr Kavatha from Nyeri of sleeping outside are over. The Compassionate Gospel has located him, and he is now in his own house, fully paid, before we locate a place to put his permanent home,” confirmed Muthee Kiengei, who led the initiative.
During the event, Mr Kavatha received not only shelter but also a promise of continued support.
JCM church supports Kavatha with a wheelchair
A new wheelchair was also set to be delivered to assist his mobility, as the church continues to address his immediate and long-term needs.
“I will visit him next week with a new wheelchair to enable him in mobility,” he confirmed.
The support was part of a larger Gospel caravan organised in Nyeri by the compassionate gospel team of the JCM church.
In addition, he was supplied with a full year’s provision of Raha Premium Kavagara flour, addressing his nutritional needs as he transitions into stable living conditions.
The initiative was executed in collaboration with Kururia TV, which played a key role in ensuring that every contribution from JCM Church was properly accounted for.

This followed the Embu outreach mission rally, where they conducted a similar event aimed at uplifting the lives of vulnerable individuals.
The Compassionate Gospel programme, which operates under the core values of love, compassion, and accountability, continues to make an impact across various counties.
Previous acts of kindness from the church
The JCM church had previously reached out to a woman who was left disabled 20 years ago after being hit by a speeding vehicle along Gatanga Road.
The incident occurred while she was returning from school, and since then, she has lived with a disability under the care of her mother, who works as a casual labourer.
Moreover, the family’s situation worsened earlier this year following the death of her father.
The outreach was made possible after the family of the woman informed the JCM team about her situation.

The medical team from JCM Church conducted a basic health check-up on the woman, including sugar and blood pressure tests, and confirmed that her vitals were stable.
