Gospel artist Rachel Wandeto, who went viral after tattooing President William Ruto’s face and the words “Two Terms” on her body, has reportedly suffered severe burns following an alleged acid attack.
Wandeto is currently hospitalized with severe burn injuries following the incident.
The incident has sparked widespread online reactions, with gospel artist and philanthropist Karangu Muraya expressing sympathy for Rachel Wandeto.
In a statement, Karangu wished Wandeto a quick recovery while condemning the attack as inhumane and calling for justice against those responsible.
“My sister and Gospel artists Rachel Wandeto may Jehovah Rapha heal you. May those who poured acid on your body never know peace that was so inhumane,” he said.
Kenyans React to Rachel Wandeto Acid Attack
Kenyans have since taken to social media, with many sympathizing with Rachel while others question what may have happened to her.
A Facebook user by the name Chege Wa Njuguna dismissed speculation linking the matter to her tattoo, stating, “This has nothing to do with her tattoo. This most definitely has something to do with her personal life, not her political stand.”
At the same time, George Mburu called for support and intervention from the President, saying, “Ruto should visit her in the hospital. Quick recovery.”
Meanwhile, Dianah Kamande expressed her sympathy, writing, “May GOD heal her. That’s so sad.”

Her Rise to Spotlight
The gospel artist rose to fame after getting tattoos of President William Ruto’s face, his name, and the words “Two Terms” on her body.
Following the move, her husband allegedly asked her to leave their matrimonial home in Kasarani and demanded that she remove the tattoo.
Despite the fallout, Wandeto remained firm in her stance, saying she is willing to end the marriage to demonstrate her loyalty and expressing hopes of meeting the President to rally women behind his re-election bid.
The incident sparked intense online debate, with Kenyan social media users sharing mixed reactions and engaging in heated discussions across various platforms.

Women Suffering From Severe Burns
The incident adds to the growing number of cases reported in 2026 involving women suffering severe burns linked to both violent attacks and tragic accidents across different parts of the country.
In Kisumu, a 34-year-old woman was admitted to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) after sustaining about 45 percent burns on her neck, chest, and upper body following an alleged targeted acid attack in the Nyalenda area.
Elsewhere in Nairobi, a 24-year-old woman identified as Mary Claire was left in critical condition after surviving a suspected acid attack reportedly linked to a former lover.
In Mombasa, another woman suffered serious chemical burns to her lips and throat after allegedly being served a corrosive liquid instead of water at a bar in Shanzu.
