Citizen TV has hired Jasmine Wambui and Jimmy Mbogo, who formerly worked for KTN News, owned by the Standard Group.
In an internal communication seen by The Kenya Times, an admin at the Royal Media Services company asked staff members to welcome Wambui and Mbogo to the team.
According to the statement, both journalists will join the company’s business desk.
Mbogo and Wambui will also support the company’s production across TV, radio, web, and digital platforms.
“Team, please extend a warm welcome to Jasmine Wambui and Jimmy Mbogo,” the message read in part.
“They’ve joined the business desk and will be instrumental in supporting us across TV, radio, Web and digital platforms.”
Prior to her move, Jasmine Wambui was honing her skills as a business anchor on KTN News.
Skillset of Citizen Tv New Reporters
Her skillset, according to a profile on her LinkedIn, is vast with ability to write, anchor news, and create content for digital consumption.
An alumnus of Daystar University, Jasmine has an experience spanning five years having worked in several positions in the media industry.
On his part, Jimmy Mbogoh is a seasoned business news anchor and reporter previously plying his trade at Standard Group-owned KTN News.
Mbogoh joined KTN News in November 2022 and worked for one year as the station’s business anchor.
Prior to joining the Standard Group-owned entity, Mbogoh had worked in several media outlets including as the host of the Business Hour KE– a podcast focused on SMEs and startups.
Mbogoh also had a stint as a script writer for the now defunct Nairobi Metropolitan Services and as a business anchor at K24.

KTN Exodus
Their exit adds to the list of journalists and staff members who have left the Mombasa Road-based media company for greener pastures.
Amid a streak of financial uncertainties, popular personalities in the Kenyan media space left the station for other jobs both in the local media and internationally.
Standard Group has also been affected by a decision by its management to restructure its operations in a move that threatened to declare several positions in the company redundant.

The listed giant continues to grapple with dwindling fortunes and delayed salaries.
