The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) hosted the Co-Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Andrew Bailey.
According to the DCI, the high-level visit to the DCI’s headquarters at the Mazingira Complex in Nairobi was intended to strengthen the strategic partnership between the FBI and the DCI.
Furthermore, the visit marked a milestone in the partnership between DCI and the FBI, barely two years after the former FBI Director, Christopher Wray, visited the headquarters.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) hosted the Co-Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Mr. Andrew Bailey, during a high-level visit to the DCI Headquarters at Mazingira Complex, Nairobi. The visit marked another milestone in the enduring strategic partnership between the DCI and the FBI, coming barely two years after the historic visit by former FBI Director Christopher Wray,” part of the statement from the DCI read.
DCI and FBI Discussion
During the visit to the headquarters, senior officers from the agencies discussed how to strengthen cooperation in fighting terrorism.
Further, the agencies ventured into the measures to take to curb cybercrime, transnational organized crime, and financial fraud.
Human trafficking, narcotic trafficking, money laundering, as well as crimes committed against children, were also addressed under matters affecting the security of the country by the agencies.
In addition, the senior officials noted measures to enhance collaboration in digital forensics and the application of artificial intelligence in investigations.
The senior officials emphasized that the collaborative use of cryptocurrency tracking, intelligence sharing, productive analytics, and emerging law enforcement technologies would enable the agencies to disrupt the increasingly criminal networks operating across borders.

Agencies Collaboration
DCI Director Mohamed Amin praised the longstanding partnership between the two agencies, noting that the collaboration had earned operational success.
According to Director Mohamed, joint investigations with the FBI and the capacity-building initiatives had positively impacted the fight against crime in Kenya.
He further thanked the FBI and the United States government for providing modernized capabilities to investigate crimes within the DCI operations, as well as for the providing technical and operational support.

Andrew Bailey, FBI Co-Deputy Director, Remarks
The FBI Co-Deputy Director, Andrew, on his end, recommended the invaluable contributions of Kenyan officers who have undergone training at the FBI National Academy.
According to Bailey, Kenyan officers at the FBI National Academy served as the link in the partnership between the two agencies.
Further, the Co-Deputy Director recognized and praised the commitment of the DCI in combating corruption and emphasized the anti-corruption efforts by the DCI.
In addition to recognizing the efforts in fighting crimes, Baily announced a plan to strengthen the FBI Legal Attaché Office in Nairobi.
To achieve this, a Regional Transnational Anti-Corruption Program Manager will be appointed to enhance the technical and specialized training.
Andrew Bailey reaffirmed the FBI’s commitment to collaborating with the Kenyan agency to advance regional and international security.
According to the two agencies, their partnership is based on mutual trust, professionalism, and a shared commitment to addressing emerging global threats.
