Former Kenyan Premier League defender Gabriel Wandera, who played for several top-tier clubs, has died after being involved in a hit-and-run accident in Busia.

He was currently playing for Bossman Knights FC, a Division 2 club in Busia County.
Bossman Knights have confirmed the Gabriel Wandera died in the accident.
“We’ve confirmed our worst fears. Gabby was tragically struck by a car. This is a deeply painful moment for all of us. May Gabby rest in peace,” the statement read.
On Saturday, during the match against Khwirale FC, Wandera was given a red card as Bossman Knights lost.
Gabriel Wandera Dies in a Hit-and-Run Incident
The incident occurred on the morning of April 19, 2026, in Busia County, where the defender was reportedly killed in a hit-and-run accident.

According to reports, the vehicle involved fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Authorities in Busia have yet to issue an official statement on the circumstances of the crash, and investigations are expected to determine the events leading up to the incident.

Wandera built a career in the Kenyan top-tier league, featuring for multiple clubs in the Kenya Premier League, including Tusker FC, Kakamega Homeboyz, Bidco United, and Nzoia Sugar.
He featured prominently for Tusker FC, where he established himself as a dependable defender. He also played for Kakamega Homeboyz FC, adding to his experience in the top division.
In addition, he had played for Nzoia Sugar FC and Bidco United FC, where he continued to contribute his defensive skills and experience across the league.

FKF Busia Branch has confirmed the passing of the defender, describing him as a committed player.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Bossman Knights FC following the untimely loss of their midfielder, Gabriel Wandera. Until his passing, Wanderas was a dedicated player for the Division 2 side from Busia County. He will be remembered not only for his commitment to Bossman Knights but also for his contributions to clubs such as Homeboys, Bidco, and Nzoia Sugar. May his soul rest in peace, and may his family, friends, and teammates find strength during this difficult time,” the statement read.
Bossman Knights fans have also shared their grief on the passing of Wandera.
“I lack the words to truly express this pain. Gone too soon, Bossman Knights FC midfielder. Your memories will forever live on in our hearts. Rest in peace, champion,” said Frank, a Bossman FC fan.
