The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has urged students with queries about the 2025 KCSE results to lodge their complaints through their school heads within 30 days of the results’ release.

The Examination Council allows a thirty (30) day window after the date of release of the results/certificates for candidates or institutions to raise any query arising from the released examination results or certificates.

Queries must be made through the heads of institutions and the Sub-County Directors of Education.

The appeal documents must reach KNEC not later than thirty (30) days after the release of the examination results/certificates, after which the query shall attract a penalty.

According to KNEC, any amendment to the name, gender, or year of birth attracts a fee of KSh3,000 per candidate if the query is submitted within 30 days of the date of release of examination results.

The head of the institution must request in writing, explaining the origin of the error.

How to lodge KCSE Complaints

Students seeking to contest their KCSE results are advised to follow official KNEC procedures.

The complaints should first be reported to the head of the institution within 30 days of the release of the results.

However, if necessary, issues can be escalated to the Sub-County Director of Education. For corrections to names, marks, or certificates, KNEC provides an online platform, the Query Management Information System (QMIS), where schools or authorized personnel can submit queries within the set deadline.

Candidates with other administrative concerns can also reach KNEC directly through designated email addresses or contact numbers to ensure their complaints are formally addressed.

Understanding the Different KCSE Complaints and Queries

Students and schools often encounter a variety of issues when results are released.

The results are not mine my name is periah and I really struggled to answer those questions I even did my exams in the hospital and despite that I really tried my best I don’t know who to complain to since we have issues with the director of our our region in kajiado because he had an issue with me doing my exams at the hospital and honestly I was really sick at that time it made me emotionally unstable together with the stress but I prevailed so tell me why I have a mean grade of c+ and I got aD+ in English And a c- in kiswahili despite them being my favourite language . I feel trapped because in course taking they have to look at languages and am no where near that category .and those are not the only exams I doubt there’s biology ,chemistry ,CRE and when I look online and see the top students. I wonder what they wrote and I didn’t if there’s anyone out there reading this please do help me cuz I don’t know where to start

Thanks for this helpful guide on KCSE result complaints. It’s good to know students have 30 days to appeal through their school heads, and that there’s a penalty after that deadline.
