National exams commenced Monday, November 28 morning, with over 2.5 million candidates sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams nationwide.
Moreover, Ministry of Education officials and Cabinet Secretaries graced the morning cold to witness the opening of exam containers and distribution of materials across the country.
While speaking in Mombasa today as he witnessed the exercise, the Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu assured Kenyans that this year’s KCPE, Grade 6 tests and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will not be comprised. Adding that everything is set for the National exams.
“We will make sure there is no cheating in any of our schools, we have put necessary efforts to ensure that,” the CS said.
The CS further noted that there is a standby helicopter to dispatch the tests in areas experiencing various challenges.
“We have 493 exams distribution centres countrywide. Each centre has a manager and the tests have been dispatched to the respective schools. All security personnel are in place,” said the CS.

Nonetheless, a KCPE candidate in Tharaka Constituency, Tharaka Nithi County gave birth Monday morning before sitting for her first paper of the day.
The candidate who is among 2,147 candidates sitting for KCPE exams in Tharaka North sub-county welcomed her baby at the Marimanti Hospital then proceeded to do her Mathematics paper.
Moreover, the area Education Director Salecio Maringe said the candidate will continue to write her exam from the hospital.
