Peter Nduati Biography
Peter Nduati is a seasoned entrepreneur, business leader, and philanthropist with over 25 years of experience driving innovation and transformation in Africa’s insurance and financial services sector.
Peter Nduati’s company, which was known as Resolution Health East Africa then, was the first company in Kenya to be registered as a Medical Insurance Provider (MIP).
Nduati was motivated to establish Resolution Health East Africa due to a perceived lack of innovation in the Kenyan insurance industry at the time.
He identified an opportunity to provide specialized, market-specific products tailored to the underserved populations of women and children.
Career
As a certified chartered insurer with extensive experience, including a role as General Manager at AAR Insurance, Nduati observed that existing insurance providers in the early 2000s were not offering flexible or comprehensive medical insurance products.
These products needed to address specific needs such as maternity care, gynecological care, and HIV/AIDS coverage.
Confident in his business plan for a specialized Medical Insurance Provider (MIP), he believed that by focusing on less risky outpatient services while reinsuring the inpatient business, he could achieve profitability. In 2002, he founded Resolution Health East Africa with initial capital raised from family and angel investors.
The company obtained its regulatory license in 2003 and targeted niche markets, experiencing rapid growth averaging 50% annually during its first few years.
In 2013, as the company expanded its services beyond medical insurance to include other lines such as motor, property, and travel insurance, it changed its name to Resolution Insurance. This expansion also included regional growth into Tanzania, Uganda, and South Sudan.

Nduati later sold a majority stake in the business to new investors but remained as the Group CEO and a minority shareholder.
However, the company soon faced significant financial difficulties, which led to capital adequacy issues. Nduati publicly attributed these challenges to the majority of foreign investors who failed to inject the necessary capital to stabilize the business.
In 2022, Resolution Insurance was placed under statutory management by the Policyholders Compensation Fund due to its inability to meet financial obligations and regulatory requirements.
Currently, Nduati serves as the Chairman of TB Distributors and runs a consulting firm called Peter Nduati Consulting Limited. He also chairs True Blaq Group and owns Pine Creek Records. Pine Creek Records has produced music and managed diverse artistes like Nikii, Mr.Lenny, Atemi, Didge, Anto Neo-Soul, amongst others.
His career includes leadership roles at Metropolitan Health Group and AAR Health Services Tanzania.
In addition to his busy professional life, Nduati dedicates time to mentorship as a Global Fellow of the Africa Leadership Institute, which is an initiative of the Aspen Institute. He is committed to shaping the next generation of African leaders through mentorship and values-based leadership.
Education Background
Furthermore, he engages in philanthropy through the Peter Nduati Foundation, which focuses on education, health, and social justice, particularly for the boy-child.
Nduati is also a renowned public speaker, sharing insights on entrepreneurship, leadership, and personal passions, including equestrian sports, rugby, and music.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Economics from Panjab University and the ACII designation in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute. Additionally, he completed an Advanced Management Programme in Business/Commerce at Strathmore Business School.
He is also a master’s degree holder in Economics and Insurance.
