President William Samoei Ruto and several Cabinet Secretaries have announced fresh appointments and reappointments to key state agencies, universities and government boards in the latest round of changes.

The appointments, published in a Gazette Notice dated September 11, affect institutions in sectors including intergovernmental relations, education, innovation, cybersecurity, tourism, water, agriculture and energy.

Ruto, Mudavadi, Murkomen, Ogamba Announce New Appointments

In the notice, President Ruto appointed Wilson Kuria Thuita, Silvya C. Apaa, Ahmed Kanyara Bishar, Pascalyne Ntang’enoi Kimiriri, Ken Riaga, Evalyn Chepkirui Aruasa and Mary Nanjala Kilobi as members of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee for a term of six years.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 11(2)(b) of the Intergovernmental Relations Act, President William Samoei Ruto has appointed seven members to the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee for a six-year term,” read the notice.

The President also conferred the honorary title and style of ambassador on Dr Fatuma Ibrahim Adan, the Head of Mission of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to Kenya, and Maureen Achieng, IGAD’s Permanent Representative to the African Union

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi appointed Avedi Evans Kituzi as the non-executive chairperson of the Kenya National Innovation Agency.

He also appointed Ali Nilfat Kassim, Yienga Julius, Moi and Abass Jihan Faisal as members of the agency’s board for a period of three years.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen appointed Dr Jerop Joy Kibor and Lorna Ogolla Omondi as members of the board of the National Cybersecurity Agency for a three-year term.

In the education sector, Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba appointed Prof John Shiundu as chairperson of the Bomet University Council. Other appointees to the council are Dr Emily Kwamboka Nyagarama, Rose Chepkorir, Fredrick Njoroge, Reuben C. Butaki and Amos Okello.

Ogamba also appointed Collins Saitaga as a member of the council of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, while Moses Narok was named non-executive chairperson of the Kajiado National Polytechnic Council.

Miano, Mugaa, Kagwe and Wandayi Also Make Changes

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano reappointed Joseph Sarisar and Dorcas Ayoma Mbalanya as members of the board of trustees of the Tourism Fund for another three-year term.

Water Cabinet Secretary Eric Murithi Mugaa reappointed Everlyne Nadio to the board of the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency. He also appointed Khadua Jimmy Kahindi as the non-executive chairperson of the Coast Water Works Development Agency.

At the same time, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe appointed Chebii Kilel, Emmanuel Leina Tasur and Rosemary Kithira Muroria as members of the Coffee Board of Kenya for a period of three years.

Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi also reappointed Judith Khamala Makasi Nyauncho and Kirwa Bitok as members of the board of Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO).

In the Judiciary, Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court Martha Koome appointed Mbaabu Kelvin Mutuma as a member of the Auctioneers Licensing Board. The appointment is for a three-year term, effective September 10.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 (1) (a) of the Auctioneers Act, 1996, laws of Kenya, the Chief Justice appoints Mbaabu Kelvin Mutuma as a Member of the Auctioneers Licensing Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 10th September, 2026,” read part of the notice.
