75 per cent of Kenyans believe President William Ruto is leading the country in the wrong direction.
The data is according to a recent survey conducted by Infotrak Research and Consulting company from July 3 to July 8, 2023.
According to the poll, the majority of those surveyed – 72 per cent – said the country is headed in the wrong direction.
Moreover, the research firm noted the perception that Kenya is headed in the wrong direction is the highest since 2020, adding that it is worse than during the pandemic time.
Also, 15 per cent of Kenyans believe the country is headed in the right direction whereas 12 per cent said the country is neither headed in the right or wrong direction.

Reasons for Kenya’s Wrong Direction
Respondents rated the high cost of living (98%) as the major reason for the country heading in the wrong direction.
Unemployment (23%), Poverty (19%), Poor Governance (14%) and Bad Politics (5%) were also cited as top reasons why respondents said Kenya is headed in the wrong direction.
Moreover, according to the survey by research firm Infotrak, high cost of living and unemployment are the top issues Kenyans want the government to address urgently.
Quality of education, cost of doing business, infrastructure, access to healthcare, corruption and poverty reduction are some of the other issues Kenyans want addressed by the state.
When asked the main cause of the current high cost of living, the correspondents mentioned increase in fuel prices (59%), High taxation (49%), Inflation (28%), Poor Decisions/Policies made by the current regime (19%), and High Import Costs (10%) among others.

Research Methodology
Infotrak conducted random sampling constituting 2,400 adults between July 3 and 8, 2023.
The margin of error was +/- 2.5 per cent at 95% degree of confidence.
Furthermore, Infotrak research firm conducted quantitative interviews through Computer Assisted Telephone interviews (CATI).
