The Technical University of Kenya (TUK) has announced free training opportunities in China for fresh graduates and final-year students to support agricultural modernization, effective as of Friday, February 6, 2026.
In a notice published on Thursday, January 29, TUK stated that the program has been organized in partnership with Kaishan Terra Green Ammonia Company, a Kenyan subsidiary of the Chinese engineering and industrial group, Kaishan Group Co. Ltd.
The training, according to the notice, will offer selected candidates approximately one year of Mandarin language studies and technical professional training in China.
“Selected candidates will undertake approximately one (1) year of Mandarin language studies and technical professional training at selected universities in China,” read part of the notice.
Upon successful completion, participants will join the workforce at Kenya’s first Green Fertilizer Plant in Olkaria, Naivasha, which is set to begin operations in mid-2027.
The training will involve two batches of trainees:
- Batch 1 from April 2026 to March 2027
- Batch 2 from July 2026 to May 2027
Criteria and Application Requirements for TUK Agriculture Training in China
To participate in this program, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- They must be Kenyan citizens.
- For them to be in Batch 1, they must be recent Graduates of the Technical University of Kenya

- They must be final-year students and those expecting to graduate in 2026 to fit in Batch 2.
- Holders of a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Industrial Chemistry.
To apply for this training, candidates will be required to submit the following:
- Application letter (1 page)
- Passport-size photograph
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) (2 pages)
- Academic Certificates (Degree Certificate or Completion Letter)
- Academic Transcripts or Provisional results
- Copy of National ID
Meanwhile, applications are to be submitted online via the website or addressed to the Vice Chancellor, TUK, Nairobi.

TUK added that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and required to submit a copy of the Biodata Page of their passport and a Certificate of Good Conduct, or proof of application for the same.

About Kaishan Terra Green Ammonia Company
Kaishan Terra Green Ammonia Limited is a subsidiary of China’s Kaishan Group Co. Ltd., which was founded in 1956.
It is currently constructing Kenya’s first Green Fertilizer Plant at Olkaria, Naivasha, within the KenGen Green Energy Park.
Kaishan Terra Green Ammonia Company is expected to produce approximately 480,000 tonnes of green fertilizer, including urea and calcium ammonium nitrate, annually.
The project is designed as a closed-loop system the uses non-condensable gases from the geothermal steam to produce a carbon dioxide feedstock for urea production, achieving net-zero emissions and avoiding over 600,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
Kaishan Terra Green Ammonia Company was officially launched by President William Ruto on November 3, 2025.
