The Chief Justice Martha Koome has expressed concerns over delayed judges’ allowances, as the government has not released the funds for the past six months.
Koome said the judges were giving their all, and delivering their assigned duties, and their morale was low because they have not been renumerated.
Speaking during the High Court Leaders Conference held on June 7 in Mombasa, the CJ further expressed her disappointments following delays of the construction of Mombasa court namely Tower of Justices.

Koome urged the Judges to handle the tons of cases dating back three years, to reduce the backlog.
“I also urge the High Court to fast-track implementation of the recommendations from the Corruption Risk Assessment as contained in the Report on Systemic Audit of Our Registry Operations by the EACC that we launched last month,” Koome said.
Principal Judge Erick Ogolla supported CJ’s sentiments saying some judges have delayed in issuing judgments for over three years.
