Kenya is witnessing a fuel shortage as the dollar crisis worsens
Several service stations in Nairobi are reporting a shortage of fuel commodities.
A spot check by The Kenya Times revealed that some filling stations in industrial and Eastlands areas had temporarily shut down due to unavailability of products.
The scarcity of the commodity is attributed to a cashflow problem blamed on declining dollar supply.
Within the Central Business District of Nairobi, several stations are operating below capacity.
Import transaction payments are done in dollars and with the shortage it means that fuel importers cannot get products into the country

Currently, a liter of petrol retails for Sh177 and is expected rise should the dollar shortage crisis persist.
An increase in fuel rices will likely translate to increased commodity prices and public transport costs.
