Alliance Girl Who Died After New Year Vacation Tragedy to Be Laid to Rest

Alliance Girls’ High School student who died after the New Year vacation tragedy is set to be laid to rest on April 11, 2025. Georgina Aluoch Ooko died on January 14 and her body has been preserved for three months.

According to an obituary published Alliance Girls’ High School, Georgina will be buried at her ancestral village in Kakrao Village, Migori County.

“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Georgina Aluoch of Alliance Girls High School, which occurred on the 14th of January 2025,” the family announced.

Aluoch died after she sustained 60% burns when a gas exploded at an apartment in Nyali. 

The memorial service will be held at Lavington Seventh Day Adventist Church on Wednesday, 9th April 2025 from 11:30am.

Tragic Cause of Death

The tragedy struck when her mother, Joyce Ongombe, while preparing breakfast at their rented apartment, a boiler exploded, causing severe burns to both mother and daughter.

 Joyce and her daughter had travelled to Mombasa for a Christmas holiday getaway.

The mother sustained burns covering 40% of her body, while Georgina suffered burns over 60%, since she was closer to the boiler.

Georgina Aluoch Family Background

She was the daughter of the late George Ooko Ochieng and Joyce Ongombe.

Additionally, she is a sister of the late Angela Ooko and the late John Ooko.

At the same time, she is the granddaughter of Mwalimu Hillary Ochieng, Mama Margaret, Hellen, Mary, and Mathilda.

Niece of Tom Hillary of Immigration Mombasa, CPA Fred Ochieng of Odhiambo Ochieng and Company, Babu of Dar es Salaam, Madam Beatrice Lecturer at Tom Mboya University, late Dr Richard Otieno, Rosesline Ochieng.

In addition, Philip Ochieng of Nation Media Group, Awino, Caroline Ochieng, Medic at Nairobi City County, CPA Sophy Ochieng, Paul Ochieng of KWS, Sabina, Nick of KDF, Dr Atieno Ochieng of Kiambu County Hospital, and Akoth.

Cousin of Byron of Seattle, Washington, USA, Hillary Junior of KSOF, John Hillary of TUK, Cherril, Christian, and the Ongombes.

Heartbreaking Death of Her Father

This is not the first time that tragedy has hit the family of Georgina Aluoch.

Years back, her father and two brothers perished in a tragic road accident near Narok.

The family was travelling back to Nairobi when flash floods near Suswa swept away their vehicle.

Their bodies were recovered days later after the accident.
