Former Kajiado County Woman Representative Janet Marania Teyiaa has died. Her death was announced by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday, April 7, 2025.
“I have learnt of the passing of Hon. Janet Marania Teyiaa with great shock. I served with Janet in the 12th parliament when she represented the people of Kajiado County as a woman Representative. She has left a big gap in our Nation,” Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua announced.

Further, Rigathi described Janet as a young girl who contributed immensely to Kajiado county, especially in advocating for the people living with disabilities.
” My deepest sympathies to her immediate family, to the people of Kajiado County, and the people of Kenya,” he added.

Janet Marania Early Life
“Janet, as a young girl, was saved by a social worker due to her disability in her childhood days, brimming with the epitome of resilience and she had a great spirit,” Gachagua said.
He described Janet as a fierce person who did not allow circumstances to stop her from realizing her dreams and she became a hope for differently abled persons.

Janet made history in Kajiado County, where she became the first girl to get an education in Ilkilorit village.

Marania Teyiaa Political Career
In 2017, Janet Teyiaa served as the Woman Representative for Kajiado County and a member for the Jubilee Party. In addition, she served as a member of the National Alliance (TNA) from 2012 to 2017.
During her tenure as the woman representative, she served as a committee member for the Department of Labour and Social Welfare. Moreover, she served as a committee for Regional Integration.
Previously, she worked as an office manager at the Wezesha Kenya from 2005 to 2013.

Educational Background
She joined the African Inland Church Boarding School in 1987, where she earned her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
From 1996 to 1999, she joined Enoomatasiani Secondary School, where she completed her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Later, she attained a Certificate in 2002 and became an Accountancy Technician.
