Ruto Praised for Imposing Heavy Taxes on Hustlers

The Senate speaker noted that Kenyans will appreciate Ruto's tax measures in the future.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has praised President William Ruto for enhancing tax measures in the country.

While speaking on Sunday, November 5 at the Mama Ngina Waterfront, where President Ruto was attending a Sunday church service, Kingi noted that Kenyans will in the future appreciate Ruto’s tax measures.

“Rais Ruto ni kama daktari wa jipu. Daktari hapongezwi wakati anatibu lile jipu kwa sababu kupona lazima lifinywe na yule unaemfinya atapiga kelele,” Kingi stated.

This is loosely translated to,” President Ruto is like a doctor treating a boil. Such a doctor is not praised while administering the treatment because for the treatment to be effective, the patient will feel pain and complain.”

Ruto told to Ignore Cries of Kenyans

In addition, the Senate speaker encouraged the President to ignore the cries and complaints of Kenyans.

According to him, Kenyans would thank Ruto after the stringent measures on Kenya’s economy had finally borne fruits.

Further, he asked the head of state to take heart even when Kenyans referred to him as Zakayo.

Kingi was referring to the moniker created for President Ruto after the heavy taxes imposed on Kenyans. The moniker compared him to Zaccheus the tax collector of the bible.

KRA Under Fire for More Taxes Imposed.

Over the past one week, the Kenya Revenue Authority was under fire after they declared that visitors into the country would have to declare goods valued up to Kshs.75,000 on arrival at the Jomo Kemyatta International Airport (JKIA).

KRA acting Deputy Commissioner David Ontweka however clarified the issue stating that the rule does not apply to all goods worth the said amount in general.

Further, he stated that the rule is only applicable in cases where the visitors have more than one product of the same type and valued beyond the cap of Ksh75,000.

In such a case, the visitors would have to declare the rest of the goods.
