Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua travelled out of the country on October 24 to Belgium to represent President William Ruto at the Global Gateway Forum hosted by European Commission.
As such, the DP who is currently in Germany for official government assignments missed the reception of the King and Queen of the United Kingdom.
However, Kenyans on social media took issue with the deputy president missing the reception of Britain’s Monarch King Charles III and Queen Camila at State House, Nairobi.
On X popularly known as Twitter, users questioned the whereabouts of the DP sharing manipulated images of him alongside President William Ruto and King Charles III.
Kenyans Reactions to Gachagua Missing King’s Reception
In a tweet, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) communication director Philip Etale asked why DP Gachagua is out of the country while the King is in Kenya.
“But why is Gachagua still out of the country when the King is visiting Kenya. Was his trip planned so that he does not invoke the ‘watoto was Mau Mau’ (Mau Mau children) in his speech?” posed Etale.
Moreover, another X user named Don Pappi posted a photoshop of DP Gachagua peeping through the windows at State House as Ruto introduced King Charles to Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
“Gachagua on the window, isn’t it interesting that a DP was left peeping through the window,” Pappi captioned his post.
Further, a user by the name Kennah made fun of the State House photoshop claiming that he has been hidden to save the nation from shame.
“Gachagua reminds me of the dark days where we had to be hidden until the visitors left,” Kulo Conrad tweeted.
In another trending post, DP Gachagua was photoshopped besides Queen Camila in the photo which included King Charles, President Ruto, and Kenya’s First Lady Rachel Ruto.
X Users Call for Respect
However, reacting to the same photos, JasperTm asked Kenyans on X to respect DP Gachagua and stop spreading such photoshops.
“Why would someone photoshop Gachagua at that spot. Let’s have some respect for elders and leaders please,” he said.
Also, popular X user named Omwamba echoed the call for respect arguing that DP Gachagua will one day become the president of the republic of Kenya.
“Why would someone photoshop Riggy G like that with President William Ruto, Rachael Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi, King Charles III and Queen Camilla at State House? Whoever photo-shoped Riggy G like that needs to be stopped and arrested immediately! This is unacceptable,” he said.

DP Gachagua’s Whereabout
Nevertheless, DP Gachagua, Second Lady Dorcas Rigathi and Baringo MP Joshua Kandie are currently in Munich Germany exploring ways to expand the global market for local coffee farmers.
The second in command via his official X account revealed that he met the Minister of State for European and International Affairs of Bavaria, Melanie Huml.
Further, Gachagua noted that their meeting was in line with Bavaria’s Strategy for Africa and the discussions focused on cooperation in Renewable Energy, Manufacturing, Tourism, Labour Migration, Sports Development, Education and Exchange Programmes.
“It was a very fruitful engagement. We look forward to joint implementation of the action points for sustainable development,” he said.
Additionally, on Saturday October 28, DP Gachagua posted a photo of him and his wife going for a morning walk within the city of Munich.
He stated that he visited the Quantron AG eMobility manufacturer at Augsburg, Germany.
In his post, the DP explained that Kenya has a lot to learn from Germans who are ahead in e-locomotives.
“Germany is our leading development partner in diverse projects of going green, especially in Geothermal Power generation, and more recently in eMobility,” he said.
