Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) has welcomed 12 Jubilee politicians hours after Kitutu Chache South MP Antony Kibagendi cautioned against attempts to intimidate opposition parties.
The latest DCP entrants are from Nakuru County, including gubernatorial aspirant Joel Maina Kairu, the chairman of Nakuru Jubilee aspirants Benson Preston Kariuki, and several MCA aspirants and former ward representatives.
Recently, several politicians in the country have joined the DCP party, including Muranga’a governor Irungu Kang’ata.
DCP Welcomes Jubilee Politicians From Nakuru
Shortly after Kibagendi’s remarks, Gachagua announced the entry of several Jubilee politicians from Nakuru County, who visited his Wamunyoro residence.

“The DCP Party wave is sweeping across the Country and continues to attract aspirants and members in droves. This morning, Hon. Joel Maina Kairu, who has been a Jubilee Party gubernatorial aspirant for Nakuru County, trooped to Wamunyoro, heeding the call of his supporters and the people of Nakuru County to join their Party, DCP,” said Gachagua.
Joel Maina Kairu, who had been a Jubilee gubernatorial aspirant for Nakuru County, led the group that joined DCP. He was accompanied by Benson Preston Kariuki, who previously chaired Nakuru Jubilee Party aspirants.
The politicians included Simon Moyi, an MCA aspirant for Menengai East Ward; Dommy Kiragu, an MCA aspirant for Kiamaina Ward; Ayub Kamau Njane, an aspirant for Shabab Ward; Paul Thuo, MCA for Kabatini Ward; Timothy Kabutu, an MCA aspirant for Rhoda Ward in Nakuru West; and Josephat Waweru Mwangi, an aspirant for Lanet Umoja Ward.
Other entrants were Kezziah Njeri Wachiuri, a former secretary of Nakuru Jubilee aspirants; former Eburu Mbaruk MCA Samuel Kariuki Mugi; Naivasha East Ward MCA aspirant Munyinyi Minai; and former Nakuru East MCA Mwaniki Sonko.

- Sicily Kariuki – Former Cabinet Secretary for Water and Sanitation
- Irungu Kang’ata – Murang’a Governor who was a close ally to President Ruto
- Moses Kiarie Badilisha – Nyandarua Governor who left UDA
- John Methu – Nyandarua Senator
- Peter Mwathi – Former Limuru MP; DCP Deputy National Chairperson (Strategy).
- Cate Waruguru – Former Laikipia Woman Representative; DCP National Women Leader
Kibagendi Calls for Equal Opposition Partnerships
Kibagendi made his remarks during a Jubilee Party rally in Nyanza attended led by former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

Kitutu Chache South lawmaker cautioned Gachagua against what he described as intimidation of other opposition parties.
Kibagendi said opposition parties were open to working with like-minded leaders from across the country but should engage as equal partners rather than having one party or individual seek dominance over others.
“Gachagua, we as marginalized communities, we are feeling that you are intimidating us. We want to tell you, with all due respect, that we want to be together as opposition s, and we will not allow you to continue intimidating us,” said Kibagendi.
