Former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has cautioned opposition chief Raila Odinga against handshake with President William Ruto.
Oparanya while addressing Kisumu residents during the Azimio rally on Saturday, February 18 told the Azimio leader to avoid handshake at all costs adding that if he decides to go for it, he will be left alone.
“As part of your team, if you decide to go for a handshake with Ruto, you will remain alone because you win every election, but it is taken away from you,” Oparanya said.
Moreover, the politician criticized any possibility of a handshake, saying that Raila Odinga must fight for his alleged stolen victory.
“We want you to fight for your victory and become the president of Kenya.” Oparanya added.
However, president Ruto last year urged legislators to ensure the office of the Leader of Opposition is establishment.

The president insisted that the formation of the official office of the opposition leader is part of what will strengthen institutions of governance.
Nonetheless, the president’s proposal attracted sharp criticism from different leaders. While some stated that it could be a plot to seek a truce with Raila, a section of the leaders supported the head of state.
Azimio leader Raila Odinga has, however, maintained that he does not want a handshake or any form of negotiations with President William Ruto.
