Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo has officially joined the race for the Nairobi Woman Representative seat ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Her entry into elective politics was announced by James Orengo, who welcomed her to the Linda Mwananchi movement and endorsed her bid for the Nairobi seat.
In a statement issued on Saturday, June 20, Orengo praised Faith Odhiambo‘s record in defending constitutional rights and her support for young Kenyans during recent demonstrations.
“Faith Odhiambo is a proven defender of justice whose fearless stand for Gen Z and peaceful protestors showed the true meaning of leadership,” Orengo said.
“Her decision to join the Linda Mwananchi movement is a monumental win for women’s leadership and our collective struggle for the ordinary citizen.”

The Siaya governor further described Odhiambo as the right candidate to represent Nairobi women, arguing that residents of the capital city need leaders who can champion accountability and integrity.
“Her bid for Nairobi Woman Representative comes at the perfect time. Nairobians deserve an incorruptible voice, and Faith is exactly that,” he added.
Orengo concluded his message by formally welcoming Odhiambo to the movement led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
“Welcome to the movement, Faith. Together, we are going to deliver a just and accountable capital city!”

The announcement came days after Faith Odhiambo joined the Linda Mwananchi movement for a major rally in Thika on Sunday, June 14.
Her association with the Linda Mwananchi was first announced by Sifuna on June 9 when he publicly welcomed the former LSK president into the movement, describing her as an important addition to a growing coalition of leaders seeking to champion reforms and citizen-centered governance.
Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi also welcomed Odhiambo’s decision to join the outfit, terming it a significant boost to the movement’s national appeal.
Battle for Nairobi Woman Rep Seat Gains Momentum Ahead of 2027
The race for the Nairobi Woman Representative seat in 2027 is already heating up. Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has declared her interest, while activist Maverick Aoko has also thrown her hat into the ring.
Among those who have also publicly declared interest is Tabitha Mutinda, the nominated senator who currently serves as the vice chair of the Senate Finance Committee.
Also eyeing the position is Millicent Omanga of the DCP party, who unsuccessfully contested for the seat during the 2022 General Election.
The seat is currently held by Esther Passaris, who is serving her third term. Passaris has already announced that she will not be seeking re-election in 2027.

Odhiambo’s Background, Education and Leadership Record
Faith Odhiambo was elected as the 51st president and the second woman of the Law Society of Kenya on 1st March,2024.
She was the second female president of the Law Society of Kenya, with the first one being former Defense Minister Raychelle Omamo, who served between 2001 and 2003.
Odhiambo has been at the forefront of fighting for protesters’ right to demonstrate and picket peacefully, without being harassed by law enforcement officers, and for the release of protesters detained by the police.
She holds a Bachelor of Law from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, and a master’s in International Commercial Law with European Law from the University of Kent (UK).
