Safaricom has explained how customers can request a review of their Fuliza M-PESA limits.
The clarification follows complaints from users on social media who said they were unable to access the overdraft service due to zero borrowing limits.
One customer, an X user identified as @Souljahjnr7, expressed frustration over being unable to access Fuliza services.
“Aaaai @SafaricomPLC Fuliza limit sirooo,” he wrote.
Safaricom Says Users Can Review Fuliza M-PESA Limit via 334#
In response, Safaricom advised the customer on how to trigger a review of their limit.
“Jambo @Souljahjnr7, dial 334# > Fuliza M-PESA > Refresh My Limit for a quick review of your Fuliza limit,” the company said in a post on X.
Customers are required to dial *334#, select option 00 for Fuliza M-PESA, and then choose option 6 to “Refresh My Limit,” which initiates a review of their borrowing limit.
However, the telco warns that the limit can be refreshed only once per month.
Fuliza is an overdraft facility integrated into Safaricom PLC’s M-PESA platform, offered in partnership with KCB Bank and NCBA Bank, that allows users to complete transactions even when their M-PESA balance is insufficient.

The service enables customers to send money, pay bills, buy goods, or withdraw cash by providing a short-term credit facility that is automatically activated during transactions when funds are low.
Activation is done via USSD by dialing *334# and opting into Fuliza M-PESA, after which the service operates automatically when a customer’s balance is insufficient to complete a transaction.
How Limits are Determined
Borrowing limits can reach up to Ksh70,000 depending on eligibility. Customers can also check their limits using the same USSD menu.
According to Safaricom, Fuliza limits are assigned after activation and are based on a customer’s activity on the network, with eligibility generally requiring at least six months of active usage.
Customers are encouraged to continue using Safaricom and M-PESA services frequently and to repay Fuliza on time by topping up their M-PESA accounts in order to grow their limits.

Each M-PESA-registered line is treated as a separate account, meaning every mobile number qualifies for its own Fuliza limit, which is periodically reviewed based on usage patterns.
Safaricom has previously noted that Fuliza limits are influenced by a customer’s credit profile, including CRB records, savings behavior on products such as M-Shwari and KCB M-PESA, and overall usage of Safaricom services, including voice, data, and M-PESA transactions.
The company further warned that limits may be reduced if customers repay late or opt out of the service.
