Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba was expelled by the United Democratic Party (UDA) due to gross disloyalty and the betrayal of party ideals.
Through the Secretary General Hassan Omar, the party said the Disciplinary Committee acted on complaints from Festus Omwamba and Henry Muriithi, finding Orwoba guilty.
UDA emphasized that loyalty is non-negotiable, declaring that Orwoba cannot “play for two political teams” while reaffirming its commitment to constitutional freedoms.
Orwoba was nominated by the ruling party in 2022 under the gender top-up category.
Her tribulations began after she was seen at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on April 17 during the homcoming of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.
The Senator is set to lose her seat as a nominated Senator, as the party has initiated the process of removing her.
