Marsabit Senator Mohammed Chute has been arrested today 11th July 2024 by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Senator Chute, currently held at the EACC Integrity Centre, faces allegations of conflict of interest and involvement in multimillion-shilling graft within the Marsabit County Government.
EACC Kenya spokesperson Eric Ngumbi confirmed the arrest.
Further details on the specific charges and evidence have not yet been disclosed as investigations continue.
Marsabit Senator Chute Arrest
Chute was arrested just a day after he joined President William Ruto at the inauguration of the Kimuka Sub-Station in Kajiado.
During his interaction with the President, Chute praised the allocation of Ksh1 billion for livestock restocking in Marsabit County.
Senator Chute, a prominent political figure in Marsabit County, has been a vocal advocate for development and transparency.

Senator Mohamed Chute has been the Senate National Cohesion, Equal Opportunities and Regional Integration Committee Chairperson and Nominated Senator Joyce Korir elected as Vice Chairperson.

Marsabit Governor arrest
Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali was also arrested on April 24, 2024, by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
The arrest was confirmed by EACC spokesman Eric Ngubi.
This development followed the earlier detention of former Treasury CS Ukur Yatani, who also served as Marsabit Governor from 2013 to 2017.
Yatani, who lost the gubernatorial seat to Mohamud Ali before his appointment as CS by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, is being investigated along with Ali over allegations of unaccounted funds in the Marsabit county government.
The arrests occurred after EACC detectives conducted raids on their homes in Marsabit and Nairobi.
