The prize money for the 2025/26 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League has been revealed. This announcement was made on Tuesday, September 16, during the official unveiling of the new season, which kicks off this Friday.
As part of the launch, betting firm SportPesa was introduced as the league’s official sponsor, marking the return of the “SportPesa Premier League” branding from this season onward.
Under the new sponsorship deal, the FKF Premier League champions for the 2025/26 season will pocket a record Ksh20 million in prize money — Ksh10 million from SportPesa and an additional Ksh10 million committed by FKF.
FKF President Hussein Mohammed confirmed the federation’s decision to match the sponsor’s contribution, stating that “the League Winner will now receive Ksh15 million.” This is a substantial increase from the previously proposed Ksh6 million.

In total, Ksh20 million will be awarded to the top three teams at the end of the season. The league winners will walk away with Ksh15 million, the runners-up will receive Ksh3 million, while the third-placed team will earn Ksh2 million.
SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri emphasized the company’s commitment to reviving the glory days of Kenyan football. “We had set Ksh6 million as the prize money for the Kenya Premier League. We sat down with the FKF President and are reviewing it to Ksh 10 million,” he said, adding that the new deal aims to prioritize player welfare and recognition.
As part of this new era, the league will feature Player of the Month awards throughout the season, culminating in an end-of-season gala to celebrate top performers across the league.

The landmark 10-year deal between SportPesa and FKF is valued at Ksh1.12 billion, starting at Ksh85 million in the first year and rising gradually to Ksh145 million by the tenth year.
A total of 60% of these funds — approximately Ksh51 million this season — will go directly to the 18 participating clubs, while the remaining 40% will be allocated to FKF for administrative and operational costs.
SportPesa’s long-term commitment is expected to enhance the development and competitiveness of top-tier football in Kenya.
“We are thrilled to launch this league today. We have started the journey of the rebuilding phase to go back to the success we achieved together in the past,” Karauri remarked during the unveiling.
