The following are the highest-paid women in football, whose journey to the top was not only a testament to their exceptional talent but also a powerful statement for gender equality in the realm of sports.
Women World Cup Star Alex Morgan
Alex Morgan is an American footballer and one of the most decorated players in the women’s game.
The 34-year-old sits at the top of the list earning $7.1m per year with on-field earnings accumulating to $0.8m and off-field earnings coming to $6.3m.
In her career, Morgan has won two FIFA Women’s World Cups with United States National Team, an Olympic Gold Medal, Algarve Cup and three league titles in club competitions.
Morgan finished as top scorer at the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Championship and at the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
The striker has twice been named US Soccer Athlete of the Year, in 2012 and 2018, and she was voted ESPY Best Female Athlete in 2019.
Moreover, Morgan has also been named CONCACAF Player of the Year on four separate occasions, while earning a place in the FIFPro World 11 three times.
Also, Morgan was voted into the US Soccer All-Time Women’s National Team Best Xl in 2013, at the age of just 24. She was runner-up in 2019’s Best FIFA Women’s Player award.

Megan Anna Rapinoe, another Women World Cup Gem
Rapinoe, who is also from United States, is one of the current leading Women wingers and comes second in the list of highest paid women footballers at $7 million.
With the US, Rapinoe won the 2015 and 2019 FIFA World Cup and a silver in the 2011 competitions.
Additionally, she won a gold medal at the 2022 London Olympics and a bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
Further, in 2019, Rapinoe was named FIFA Women’s Player of the Year and won the Ballon d’Or after emerging as the best player in the World Cup.

Alexia Putellas
Spanish born midfielder Alexia Putellas, currently plays for Barcelona, is ranked third in the list of most paid female footballers earning $4 million.
Putellas is the second highest all time goal scorer for Barcelona and holds record for the most appearances for Spain.
With Barcelona, Putellas has won two UEFA Women’s Champions league trophies, seven league titles and seven Copas des la Reina.
