Manchester City’s Erling Haaland achieved another milestone becoming the first player to score five or more goals in an FA Cup match for a top-division club.
This comes 54 years after George Best netted six goals for Manchester United against Northampton Town in 1970.
Haaland achieved this during Man City’s 6-2 rout of Luton Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The 23-year-old notched up a stunning hat-trick in the first 40 minutes before adding two more goals in the second half on Tuesday 27th.
By scoring, he also became the first Man city’s player since 1926 to score five goals in an FA Cup game.
It was the Norwegian’s eighth hat-trick for City, making him the first player to score five goals for the club in two separate matches.
His other quintet came against RB Leipzig when Manchester City defeated Marco Rose’s men 7-0 in the Champions League Round of 16 on the way to their first-ever success in that competition in 2022/23.
Through crashing Leipzig, he became just the third player in history – and the first for nine years – to score five goals in a single UEFA Champions League game.
Erling Haaland joined City from Borussia Dortmund in July 2022, after penning a five-year deal which keeps him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2027.
Since his debut for City in July 2022, Haaland has scored 79 goals in 83 games in all comps, 30 more than any other Premier League player during that time (Salah 49).
The Manchester City’s Striker has scored against 21 of the 21 opponents he has faced in the Premier League, completing the set against Brentford.

His feats are underlined by the fact that he passed Michael Owen’s mark of being the fastest player to score three Premier League hat-tricks.
While Owen needed 48 matches to get a hat-trick of hat-tricks, Haaland required only eight.
Haaland has been the six times footballer of the year in Austria (2019), Norway (2020,2021, 2022, 2023) and England (2023).
The striker registered 18 goals in 20 games for Norway prior to joining City.

The Football Career of Erling Haaland
The son of former City player Alf-Inge, Haaland junior is widely regarded as one of Europe’s best strikers.
He joined his hometown club Byrne before the age of 10 and progressed through the youth set-up to make his debut in the Norwegian second tier three months shy of his 16th birthday.
A move to Molde followed in 2017 and a winning goal off the bench on his debut was a sign of things to come.
He ended the 2018 season as the Club’s top scorer, netting 12 goals in 25 league games, whilst still only 18 years of age.
His form in his homeland prompted Austrian champions Red Bell Salzburg to move for him in January 2019.
Between August 2019 and September 2019, the striker hit the back of the net 17 times in nine games, including three hat-tricks, which included a treble on his Champions League debut against Genk.
Red Bell Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund
By the time he joined Dortmund in 2020 January, he had scored 28 goals in 22 appearances for Salzburg and showed no signs of slowing down in Bundesliga.
A 23-minute hat-trick in a 5-3 win over Augsburg got the Norwegian up and running in yellow and black and, with braces in his next two games in Dortmund.
He became the first player in Bundesliga history to score five goals in his first two matches and seven in his first three.
Haaland ended the 2019/20 campaign with 44 goals in 40 club appearances for Salzburg and Dortmund and followed that up by scoring 41 times in as many games in 2020/21.
That included a four-goal haul against Hertha Berlin and a brace against Sevilla which saw him become the fastest and youngest player to reach 20 goals in the Champions League.
His performances across the course of that campaign were enough to earn him the Bundesliga Player of the Season award.
He also finished as top scorer in the Champions League to win the competition’s Forward of the Season prize.
