Paris Saint-Germain will be forced to proceed with the 2022/23 football season without their forward Neymar due to his knee injury.
The Brazil captain suffered an injured right ankle during PSG’s 4-3 over Lille on the 19th of February and has not played any game since then.
After a series of consultations with medical and injury experts, PSG published a statement on their official website stating that the 31-year-old has experienced “instances of instability in his right ankle” over recent years and surgery is needed to “avoid a major risk of recurrence.”
The ligament surgery will be performed at the ASPETER hospital in Doha in the next few days, with the recovery expected to take between 3-4 months.
