Kenyan distance runner Pamela Kosgei claimed victory during the women’s race at the 54th ASICS Falmouth Road Race in Massachusetts, United States.
The 22-year-old clocked 35:25 in the prestigious seven-mile race from Woods Hole to Falmouth Heights on Cape Cod, holding off American Jess McClain by just half a second.
According to the ASICS Falmouth Road Race, Pamela will receive a cash prize of $10,000, approximately KSh1.29 million, for winning the women’s open title.
Speaking after the race, Kosgei said she was delighted to exceed her own expectations.
“I was not expecting to win today. I was expecting to maybe podium, but I’m so happy I won,” Pamela said.
The win comes only weeks after her triumph at the Beach to Beacon 10K in Maine.

About Pamela Kosgei
Kosgei, born July 5, 2004, in Elgeyo-Marakwet County, is the younger sister of former marathon world record holder Brigid Kosgei.
She competes for the University of New Mexico in the United States and was named Mountain West Female Athlete of the Year in 2025.
As a distance runner, Pamela has won multiple NCAA titles, including the 5,000m and 10,000m, and the 3000m steeplechase.
Pamela rose to prominence as a junior, winning the African Under-20 3000m steeplechase title in 2023 and earning bronze at the World Cross Country Championships U20 individual.
Her personal bests include 30:49.99 in 10,000m and 9:15.93 at 3000m steeplechase.
Her victory headlined a strong Kenyan performance at the annual road race, with fellow Kenyans Edwin Kurgat and Everlyn Kemboi also securing podium finishes.

Top Performing Kenyans at the 54th ASICS Falmouth Road Race
Among the top performers was Kurgat, who finished second in the men’s race in about 31:04, behind Eritrean runner Habtom Samuel, who set a course record.
Edwin Kurgat is a Kenyan long-distance specialist who competes for the Under Armor Mission Run Dark Sky team based in Flagstaff, Arizona.
The former NCAA cross-country champion at Iowa State University and Kenya’s representative in the 5,000m at the 2024 Paris Olympics earned $7,000, about KSh905,000, for his runner-up finish.
Everlyn Kemboi also delivered a strong performance, finishing third in the women’s race in 35:34.
Recently, Everlyn won the 2026 Bix 7 and is a former Philadelphia Half Marathon champion, and she earned approximately KSh 775,000 for her podium finish.
In addition, she won the NCAA Division I 10,000m title in 2023 while competing for Utah Valley University, the first national title in the program’s history.
Several other Kenyan athletes featured in the elite fields during the event. Among them was Amon Kemboi, the defending champion, who won the 2025 edition in 31:12.
Former NCAA champion Mercy Chelangat was also in action and was part of the women’s lead pack during the early stages of the race.
Chelangat, who now represents HOKA Northern Arizona Elite, finished fourth at the 2026 Boston Marathon in a personal best time of 2:20:30.
