The Western Region Director of Education has introduced new charges targeting photographers and vendors at the upcoming Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Games and the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) competitions.
Photographers will now be required to pay Ksh10,000 to take photographs and video clips during the two events.
Any business vendors will be charged Ksh2,000 to set up shop, while tender documents will cost Ksh1,000.
The games are scheduled to be held in Kakamega County. The championships will be returning to Kenya since 2016, when they were held in Eldoret.
KSSSA & FEASSSA Games
The Western region was selected to host the 2025 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games.
This followed an outstanding performance by schools from the County in the second term of the Kenya Secondary School Association (KSSA) games held at Bukhungu Stadium, where Kakamega produced six teams.
The KSSSA National Term 2 Games will take place from July 24th to August 2nd in Kakamega County. These are national-level secondary school sports competitions held across Kenya.
Immediately after, the FEASSSA Games will be held in the same location, Kakamega County, from August 3rd to 23rd. This event brings together top-performing secondary school teams from across East Africa for regional competition.

How Schools in Kakamega County Recently Performed
Earlier in July, schools from Kakamega County delivered an impressive performance at the Western Region Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games, claiming several titles and qualifying for the upcoming national championships, which will also be held later this month.
Musingu High School emerged as a standout, with their football team, the Scorpions, defeating Ebwali Secondary School of Vihiga 2-0 to win the boys’ title.
While in the girls’ football category, Butere Girls reaffirmed their dominance by retaining their regional championship.

The county also excelled across other disciplines, including rugby, basketball, volleyball, and netball.
In rugby, St. Peter’s Mumias and Koyonzo Boys topped the boys’ category, while Mwira Girls and Egi Girls secured qualification in the girls’ division.
Butere Girls and St. Peter’s Mumias also earned national slots in basketball. In volleyball, Malava Boys and Bishop Sulumeti Lugari Girls claimed victories in their respective categories, while Mukuyu Secondary School stood out in netball with a strong performance.
