Nation Media Group (NMG) has announced the departure of Dr. Wilfred Kiboro as the company’s Board chairman. Consequently, NMG has appointed Joseph Muganda to succeed Kiboro effective 27 June 2025 after the upcoming Annual General Meeting.
Dr. Kiboro is retiring after a long career. Muganda, who joined the board in November 2024, is a seasoned business leader with experience in top executive roles across various industries.
“The Board of Directors of Nation Media Group PLC is pleased to announce that Mr Joseph Muganda has been appointed to take over the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nation Media Group PLC from the long-serving Chairman, Dr. Wilfred Kiboro,” said the company secretary, Angela Namwakira, in a notice dated June 6.
NMG will host its AGM on June 27.
Muganda joined the Board on 1 November 2024. The Board acknowledged his vast experience and leadership in corporate management across Africa and the UK.
Nation Media Group Commends Kiboro
Kiboro has been praised for his leadership, commitment to media freedom, and transformation of NMG into a leading multimedia organisation.
“He is an accomplished business leader with an illustrious career and vast experience gathered from over three decades of service in several multinational corporations across Africa and the UK,” NMG stated.
He had served in various top positions before joining NMG as the chairman.

His previous roles included top leadership (CEO) positions at VIVO Energy Kenya (Shell Licensee), Kenya Breweries Limited and British American Tobacco, all market leaders in their respective sectors.
He also served in the position of Group Chief Executive Officer at Nation Media Group between 2015 and 2018.
On the other hand, Muganda holds an MBA from the University of Leicester and a B.Sc. in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Buckingham.
Additionally, he is currently chairing the Board of Stanbic Bank Kenya in addition to serving on several other boards.
