A fire tragically claimed the lives of a woman and her three children after it completely destroyed their house in Nyamasaria neighborhood of Kisumu County.
According to preliminary reports, an unknown man locked the family in the house on Wednesday, July 10, at night.
He then proceeded to pour petrol around the house before setting it on fire.
In videos seen by The Kenya Times, the was completely burnt to ashes with pieces of charred iron sheets laying at the scene.
Neighbours and well-wishers arrived at the scene at night in an attempt to help the family but all four of them had already died.
The fire department arrived later in the night to put out the flame.
Consequently, the police have launched investigations to establish the cause of fire as residents call for justice over the tragic death of the family.

Nurse Dies While Rescuing Child
A nurse in Kilifi passed away while trying to save her 2-year-old son who was trapped in a burning house in April.
The fire which broke out from one of the bedrooms, was ignited by electric wires from a nearby pole. The nurse rushed into the house to rescue her son who was sleeping inside.
Her husband and their daughter waited outside while she rushed into the building but later on, the father joined her into the house to try and rescue both the nurse and the 2-year-old.
However, the fire engulfed the house very quickly.

Night Fire in Nairobi
In a separate incident in May 2024, a 4-year-old died after a massive fire erupted in the Waruku neighborhood of Kangemi, Nairobi County.
Also, the fire left many residents homeless and ravaged over 30 households.
“Following the fire in Waruku this evening, we have lost over 30 households and also a 4-year-old baby in the inferno. Rest in Peace,” he shared on his official X account.
“We are appealing for help with blankets, clothes, utensils, mattresses, food, water, and anything else you can offer to help the victims regain a semblance of normalcy in their lives,” Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai said.
