Sections of Thika Road on May 25 experienced traffic disruption and tension as some schools in the area suspended learning.
Traffic alerts from different social media users in the morning captured a tense situation, with some bus termini completely deserted.
Thika Road Explorer warned of a suspected presence of goons in several areas along Thika Road.
According to the alert, goons have been reported along the Thika-Garissa highway around the Kiandutu area, Witethie, Juja, Ruiru, and Githurai, with the public advised to stay alert and safe.
Further, the Thika Town Today updates on the traffic status along the highway reported that there are some actions along the Thika access roads, including roadblocks and fire.
Additionally, the report indicated that suspected goons have invaded the Witethie area and allegedly stoned a lorry.
“Tension reported along sections of Thika Road this morning, with some school parents saying school buses are unavailable. There are reports of action along certain Thika access roads, including roadblocks and fires. Reports further indicate that suspected goons have invaded the Witeithie area, where a lorry was allegedly stoned,” Thika Town Today reported.

Following the disruption, passengers were stranded at major matatu stages, including the Manchester and Mataara stages in Thika.
According to the traffic update, no Super Metro matatu had been spotted at the major stages for over half an hour on the early morning of May 25.
In a video shared in the early morning hours on Monday at 5:30 a.m., passengers are seen stranded as they wait to board Matatus and continue with their daily activities; however, no Matatus are shown in the video.
With the reports indicating normalcy in the traffic flow in other areas and major highways, the fare charges from Thika to Nairobi town today are expected to hike to up to KSh 300.

School Disruptions Along Thika Road
With the ongoing tensions in sections of Thika Road, according to the Thika Road Explorers School administrators, parents have been advised that, due to the alleged roadblocks and fire, school transport services will be delayed until further notice.
For the safety of the students and school staff, parents have been advised to keep all learners at home awaiting official communication from the school administrators on the resumption of studies.
